Built-in tools like XProtect and Gatekeeper will keep just about everything nefarious off your machine…but “just about everything” is not “everything.” At this moment, there are hundreds of thousands of infected Macs out there, and malware written to target the Mac is on the rise. So…if this were put to a vote, I think you’d have your answer (ditch the antivirus entirely)! In reality, though, I think it all comes down to your risk tolerance.Īs an IT pro for almost 25 years and trained in infosec specifically, I’ll tell you that Apple’s fortified MacOS pretty well…but the OS is not impervious to malware infection. ![]()
